February 4, National Girls & Women's Sports Day This day celebrates the participation of all girls and women in sports.
February 22, Lake Merritt Joggers and Striders Couple's Relay. The relay will take place around Lake Merritt. Many thanks to Lake Merritt Joggers and Striders for donating some of the race proceeds to benefit Team-Up for Youth and to Jamba Juice, who will donate 20% of sales at the race to benefit our work.
April 7, World Health Day This special day, created by the World Health Organization honors the need for global and local health--a great day to give gratitude and get active.
May 3, College Sports Day at UC Berkeley On this day, all kids sixth grade or under and their families are welcomed! Kids will have the opportunity to learn more than 15 different sports from Cal student-athletes. All kid must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
May 19, 20 Sports4Kids Play On! Conference at San Francisco Mission Bay Conference Center. Lace up your sneakers, get your game on and join Sports4Kids at Play On! This high-energy conference is focused on play, its benefits and how to bring it, implement it and use it to make a difference in your community. Speaker Kevin Carroll, author of Rules of the Red Rubber Ball, kicks off the conference.
May 30, Team-Up for Girls Day at the Park. See the San Francisco Giants take on the St. Louis Cardinals. Team-Up for Youth is partnering with the SF Giants and the Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative to bring 500 girls from low-income communities to the game. The girls will hear from a panel of professional female athletes before the game starts, then enjoy game! Bring your girls to the Park on May 30. August 27-28 Eat Real Fest! Eat Real Fest is a local food festival that takes place in Jack London Square in Oakland. The festival (and all its programming) is FREE to the public and all food items at the event are required to cost $5 or less. We strive for the festival to be accessible to the entire Oakland community.
September 24 National Women's Health & Fitness Day Women's Health & Fitness Day is the nation's largest annual health promotion event for women of all ages. The event is always held on the last Wednesday in September. This unique national program--with participation by local organizations throughout the U.S.--focuses attention on the importance of regular physical activity and health.

September 27 Family Health & Fitness Day This is a national health and fitness event for families. The event's purpose is to promote family involvement in physical activity. Local organizations throughout the country will host family-related health and fitness events at schools, park districts, hospitals, YMCAs/YWCAs, malls, health clubs and other community locations. A great day to get the family out and active--run, play ball or play some sharks and minnows with the kids.
October 6 National Child Health Day Health professionals and health organizations across the United States take part in this day through various activities and events. For example, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) takes on an active role in providing educational resources for parents, children and schools about issues such as healthy choices, fitness, and child obesity prevention. The HRSA also calls for every surgeon general across the nation to make a pledge towards providing a healthy future for children.
October 22 Lights On Afterschool This event, created by the Afterschool Alliance, includes hundreds of events across the country for people to celebrate and advocate for after-school programs that help young people thrive.
October 12-13 PlayOn! This annual Playworks event is a hands-on, interactive conference brimming with useful information. It is designed for parents, teachers, coaches, youth workers, community advocates and everyone else who understands the value of play and wants better tools, techniques and strategies to make it part of their community.
